Noah's Bagels

In 1989, Noah opened a single bagel store in Berkeley, CA. In 6 ½ years, it became the largest kosher retailer in the US, with 38 bagel shops from Los Angeles to Seattle and sold for $100 million. He helped take the company through an initial public offering after the sale.

Bread and Circus

Co-founder of Bread and Circus, a natural foods grocery store in Brookline, Massachusetts. A pioneer in the Natural Food industry, Bread and Circus was eventually acquired by Whole Foods Market.

Alper International, Inc.

Founder of Alper International, an importer and distributor of gourmet housewares, with importation from nine countries and distribution nationwide. These products were featured in several national catalogs and publications including: Spiegel, Williams Sonoma, McCall's, Bon Appetit, Woman's World and the Montgomery Ward catalog.

Ristorante Raphael

Noah and his wife Hope founded Ristorante Raphael, a Kosher Italian Restaurant/Bar in Berkeley, CA. Noah and Chef Domenico Testa, a veteran restaurateur from Lazio Italy created a menu showcasing vegetarian cuisine, plus fresh fish. The restaurant received numerous awards including "Bay Area Naturallyā€¯-Restaurant of the Year, and was Zagat-rated.

Holy Land Gifts

Founder of Holy Land Gifts, a catalog and wholesale business of foods, handicrafts, housewares and gifts from Israel.

Jewish Community High School of the Bay

Founding President of the Jewish Community High School of the Bay, a co-educational day school providing a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum in general and Judaic studies. A first of its kind in the Bay Area, Noah was instrumental in the building of the school on a whole city block in San Francisco, raising over $20 million in funding and establishing this state of the art academic facility to accommodate up to 200 students.
